A writer, editor, educator, musician, sailor, nonprofit executive and board member, Barbara has lived in New England for most of her life (with short stays in Minneapolis and Michigan). Today, though, she lives most of the year in Georgia, with a month or more in the summer in Maine. One of the most meaningful writing experiences she's had is as a workshop leader helping people capture in writing significant stories from their past. She calls these workshops "Memories2Memoir" and the work that comes out of them—from participants who don't consider themselves writers—has been amazing. It confirms for her the power of narrative, both in the telling and in the listening. The work of some workshops resulted in three anthologies: Stories That Connect Us; Writing Our Secrets; and Things We Know. Although rather shy person, Barbara believes wholeheartedly in the need for deep and thoughtful communication.
